Grainery Store Shifts Survey

As you may know, the Grainery recently reduced the number of hours that members are required to work from 8 to 6 per month. As a result, the Grainery is considering changing scheduled shift times at the store to accommodate shifts of different lengths.

Pat, Deb, and Amanda have designed a brief survey to gather feedback from current, past, and future members on preferred lengths of shifts and shift times in order to propose a shift schedule that will accommodate the majority of Grainery members and keep the store open during our posted hours of operation. You can complete the survey online by clicking the link below or by going into the store and filling out a paper copy. It will take 5 minutes at the most. We will be collecting responses up until Friday, June 27th. Thanks for your help!

Locks have been Changed

The locks at the store have recently been changed so if you have an old key or wish to get your deposit back, please see Jennifer.
If you currently have a store key, you can exchange it with me for a new key. If you do not currently have a store key, but are qualified to get one, there is a form to be filled out and a $20.00 deposit to get a key.
...
After next week, all new keys will be handed over to Susanna Eve (the current "Key Person"). If you do not exchange or return your old store key within three months, your key deposit will be forfeited.

If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks,

Jennifer

Fiddleheads and requests for help

Fresh Fiddleheads from Whirled Beet Farm at the store! Also:
  • Apples from Ted Hutton
  • Preserves from Hac'n Sack
Fiddleheads are an interesting local delicacy-- a forest fern that has a taste somewhat akin to Asparagus. To prepare, just cut their stems so they're as long as the coiled fern (the fiddlehead), then steam for 8-10 minutes. You can serve them with a bit of butter and/or salt (although they're nice just by themselves too).

Spring Cleaning occurred a few weeks ago, lots of things look shiny and new but there are still a few tasks left to be completed:

  • Fridge and Freezer
  • Two shelving units by the freezer
  • Bagging area and cash area
  • Shelves opposite sink
  • Closed bag storage cabinet
  • Open bags storage cabinet
  • High shelf above the bathroom entrance
  • Bathroom

If you can, do one of these during your shift, or come in to do one of these.
Remember to book your hours!

And there are a couple of specialized tasks in the computer area:
  • Clean the excellent but tarnished keyboard
  • A truck or van to bring a computer desk to the grainery (contact Pat), and help to rearrange the computer area.
